The doors opened at 10am promptly for another breakfast for our Armed Forces Veterans.
The Veterans from all our Armed Forces services piled through the door eager to catch up with their comrades and enjoy the community hosted by the Newark Services Club.
With the staff being in full flow with what was needed the event went off without a hitch.
One of our regular “minis” (Maisie aka Moo) loves to guess how the table are going to be called up to the respective stations to get their well awaited breakfast.
In the past the tables have been chosen by table cloth colour but Maisie quickly saw that all the tables had the same cloth colour. There are mini flags on the tables with different cap badges/service emblems from across the armed forces but there were 2 per table so it couldnt be that.
Previously there was also coloured putty hidden underneath the flags but this time there was not a single piece of putty to be seen.
So, this left the napkins. These were blindly picked from a concealed bag to reveal which of the lucky, eager veterans could go fill their plates first.
And those with blue coloured napkins were up first (Maisies was green…..and was picked last…oh well).
The unlimited tea/coffee and juice flowed well among friends and many stories, news, and laughter was exchanged among the people at the breakfast.
The staff did an amazing job, cooking each item to perfection, and creating an organised flow for the event that was enjoyed by everyone who attended.
A big shout out goes to the Newark Patriotic Fund who financially help with the breakfast to keep the price low for everyone. Thank you NPF!
If you’re a veteran and in the Newark area, why not come down to our next breakfast and enjoy the event that has people coming back again and again.
Keep an eye on the Newark Forces Breakfast Club Facebook Page to see when the next one has been put into the diary so you can get your name down for it.
Alternatively you can join the Newark Services Club and come to one of our members breakfasts which we also hold regularly. Pop into the club (behind the Odeon Cinema) and ask one of our members of staff for a membership form. We’d love to serve you at one of our future events.
